Mogul
Ikuma Horishima
Born in 1997 in Ikeda-cho, Ibi District, Gifu Prefecture, Japan Ikuma Horishima has been remarkably successful in the field of mogul skiing.
During his third year of high school, he earned his first podium finish in the World Cup. In 2017, he won two events at the Asian Games and went on to make his debut at the World Championships, where he clinched the championship title. Subsequently, he also secured victory in dual moguls, becoming the first male athlete to achieve a double championship in moguls since the introduction of both single and dual moguls events in 1999. This achievement was only the second time for a Japanese athlete, following in the footsteps of Ai Uemura in 2009.
At the 2022 Beijing Olympics, Ikuma won a bronze medal. He says his next goal is to win the overall World Cup championship.
